Providing you with Care at Home

Gardening develops the minds and emotions of individuals, increases health and enriches communities, connecting to nature, people and the moment. Companion Care Gardening is a support service providing nature and sensory assisted therapies in healthy ageing and dementia care, combining care and companionship through the shared love of gardening. Companion Care Gardening also provides support through helping families and carers navigate dementia care solutions.

For many older adults, a well kept garden is their pride and joy. However, many are reluctant to do so alone due to reduced levels of mobility and balance leading to increased risk of falls. Therefore, Companion Care Gardening encourages older adults to be active in their garden safely with assistance. Gardening maintains a sense of continuity and identity whilst managing those everyday risks.

Gardening and the outdoors has many proven health benefits for health and wellbeing. Active and passive multi-sensory experiences play a vital role in promoting wellbeing experiences. Gardening activities can provide a moderate form of exercise and promotes relaxation. Alternatively, sitting and enjoying the company and a conversation whilst observing or directing activities continues engagement in gardening and the outdoors.
